The technique of wood carving


It is important to use the tools of manual labor is properly and safely. It would be useful to accelerate the working process and maintain quality of the work. Here's how to use a chisel properly and safely.

Use the Right:
- Use a chisel type is right for the job you are doing. There are three types of cross-cutting tool with different functions.
(1) cross-section width for cleaning / resurfacing;
(2) trapezoidal cross-section to make holes or grooves;
(3) cross-section beams to make a hole in the pen.

- Always keep the sharpness of the chisel. A good sharpening angle is 25 degrees, and acuity angle (chisel tip) ideal 30 degrees.
- Never try to cut too much or too deep. This work could lead to a chisel fracture and risk of workplace safety.
- Always tie the workpiece on a table or bench using a 'clamp' and note that the position of 'clamp' do not disturb the working process.
In a safe manner:
- Always hold the chisel at the back and always keep the position of both hands on the back of the chisel.
- Tie the workpiece using a clamp so it does not move.
- Always position your legs above the floor.
- Replace the cover / safety eyes sharp chisel when not in use.
- Always wear safety glasses at work using a chisel to avoid splinters.
- Never put a chisel or storing in a pocket.
- Use a chisel to carve wood, not to open a screw or nail leverage.
