Know Plywood

Plywood or commonly known as PLYWOOD or plywood. Plywood is made from thin sheets of wood (veeneer) with a thin cut using a special machine with a thickness between 0.6 mm to 3 mm. Each sheet of wood glued together using a special glue, then in the direction of stacking with slightly different angles in order to generate the power to pressure. The number of layers adjusted to the desired thickness and number must be odd (3,5,7,9, etc. sheets).

Having drawn up by the number of desired thickness and then the sheet is pressed with a press sheet and very high temperatures up to 140 ° C. In addition to the type of wood, type of adhesive or glue is an important ingredient in the manufacture of plywood, there are three types of glue commonly used in the manufacture of plywood that is: UF (Urea Formadehyde), MF (Melamine Formaldehyde) and PF (Phenolic Formaldehyde).

UF glue used in the manufacture of plywood that do not require high strength eg for manufacturing indoor furniture, most of Indonesian plywood in the market using this type of glue.

MF is the glue plywood glue containing melamine, just like glue UF, MF Glue is also used for the manufacture of plywood that is used for indoor but MF has the strength and glue plywood better results than the UF glue.

PF glue widely used in the manufacture of plywood that require high durability such as weather-resistant plywood (WBP Plywood) or for plywood used in the foundry (Film Faced Plywood) or also used in the manufacture of sailing ships (Marine Plywood)
